We’re thrilled to announce that during the week of September 15–19, we’ll be hosting an Industry Talk with Justin Martinez, a seasoned professional in the tech field.
Justin will be leading a panel discussion focused on the barriers of entry in tech, building strong people skills, and the importance of showing up whether at events, meetups, or networking sessions. He’ll also share valuable insights from his own career journey and highlight how engaging with the community can open doors to new opportunities.
This is an event designed for students, aspiring developers, and anyone looking to grow their career in tech. Whether you’re curious about how to break into the industry, strengthen your soft skills, or make the most of networking, this session will give you practical takeaways.

First Year Representative

Are you in your first year of studies (under 24 credits completed) and looking to get involved in the Applied Computer Science community?

The First Year Representative is a vital voice on the ACSSA Executive Team. This role is all about representing the ideas, concerns, and perspectives of first-year students, ensuring that our events, resources, and decisions reflect the needs of the newest members of our community.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Acting as a bridge between first-year students and the ACSSA executive team
  • Helping with outreach and engagement, so first-year students feel seen, supported, and welcomed
  • Contributing to planning, feedback, and initiatives from a first-year lens
  • Supporting events, communications, and creating a sense of community among new students

This is also a great opportunity to build leadership experience early, get to know fellow students, and potentially become a future ACSSA executive.

No experience necessary. Just bring your ideas, energy, and willingness to get involved!
